Company Background
Started in June 2003, Biofuel Research Pte Ltd was formed with the aim of bringing and providing biodiesel to Singapore.
Biofuel Research is the first company in Singapore to pioneer a technology to convert waste cooking oil to biodiesel. Since our inception in June 2003, our company further reached a milestone in 2008 when we developed a waterless process to produce biodiesel from Vegetable Oil by-products (fatty acids/acid oils) and non food oils such as sewage grease, exceeding ASTM/EN standard. Further to that, in order to produce 100% renewable biofuel, we further developed a waterless process using ethanol instead of methanol in 2009.
Biodiesel Research was the first renewable energy company to receive equity funding from Spring Singapore under the SEEDS program in 2006;
This is followed by a 2nd round of Seeds funding in 2009 upon the development of the above technologies.
In 2009, the company became a subsidiary of Oakwell Engineering Ltd, a listed company on the Singapore Stock Exchange.
